Years 5 and 6 started their week with a trip to the Globe Theatre, a reconstruction of the Elizabethan playhouse in which Shakespeare’s Tudor plays were originally performed. We were given a tour and learned that rich theatre goers would pay to literally sit on the stage in order to get a close-up view of performances (and to make a statement about their wealth). After this, our tour guide and real-life actor, Jack, gave us a hilarious and dynamic drama workshop. They loved it!
