Year 5 and 6 have had a super week living as Tudors in Milden, Suffolk. The children loved learning about Tudor traditions and sampling Tudor cuisine. They enjoyed a variety of activities including cleaning out the pigs, wassailing, making pomanders and going on long walks in the forest. Dinners were eaten in the impressive Tudor barn with foods including carrot and swede mash, homemade sausages, pheasant pie and treacle sponge pudding.
Lots of fun was also had playing outside, away from the bustling city of London. At the end of each day, the children enjoyed relaxing in the warm ‘snug’, drinking hot chocolate, sewing and watching films. Everyone laughed while watching the modern-day take on Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet entitled ‘Gnomeo and Juliet’ – a story about two feuding families of garden gnomes!
