Ali Baba and the Bongo Bandits!

Year 5 and 6 stunned jam-packed audiences with their spectacular performance of ‘Ali Baba and the Bongo Bandits’. They have worked tirelessly for months learning their lines, lyrics, stage directions and dance routines and did not disappoint.

This year’s production was the biggest and most ambitious The Lyceum has ever produced, with many of the children playing multiple roles – on stage, in the band and behind the scenes. With trap doors, smoke machines, hired costumes, green screens, and a live band, there was non-stop action from start to finish. The Arabian themed bar and drinks menu went down well with audience members too!

Mrs Taggart is so proud of the children and her colleagues for the determination and tenacity they have shown (and she is a particularly tough director to impress). Seeing the community spirit, the confidence and creativity on and off stage and the kindness from everyone really epitomises who we are and what we stand for at The Lyceum.

Huge thanks go to the fabulous creative team behind the magic in the show.

They say in the world of theatre that a person who can act, sing and dance is a ‘triple threat’. Well, we have triple threats in abundance here at The Lyceum. It turns out, we also have ‘quadruple threats’ – with many of our performers playing instruments live in the band too!

Congratulations to all on a phenomenal performance! Mrs Taggart has already got ideas up her sleeve for next year…
