The Lyceum educates children between the ages of 4 and 11 years. We are able to offer places in our Reception class following your child’s fourth birthday.
All parents will be invited to meet the Head and their children will spend some time in their respective classrooms being observed to ensure that the setting is the right one for them.
Parents wishing to apply for a place in Year 2 – Year 6 undergo a more formal assessment, consisting of a Maths and English paper, to determine that they will be able to access the curriculum at the correct level and have a sufficient standard of reading, communication and social skills to allow a successful transition into the school.
Nursery Provision
Our Nursery provision is offered next door in the brand new Hopes and Dreams Montessori Nursery, which takes children from the age of 3 months. Babies, toddlers and indeed parents there benefit from strong links with The Lyceum and the setting provides a strong foundation for transition into Reception. Find out more here.
Admission
The school makes the final decision about entrance and children from all backgrounds are welcome. We do not stream our intake.
However, where a parent indicates that their child may have a special need or medical or behavioural condition, then the child will have an assessment based on observation and reports from previous schools.
Terms and Conditions
The school has a small number of clear rules which parents accept by signing their terms and conditions. There is a clear emphasis on traditional manners and good behaviour is expected at all times. Pupils who are disruptive may be asked to leave the school. The school has a Behaviour Policy that can be viewed on request.
Next Steps
